Sammelsurium – Thursday Doors

This is part of Norm 2.0’s photo challenge Thursday Doors. My Wifi connection is dead slow right now, so I’ll come straight to the point.

Thank you for visiting my blog!

Thursday Doors – Next-Door Neighbours

It’s Thursday again, time for door-lovers around the world to participate in Norm 2.0’s photo challenge Thursday Doors. Enjoy! 🙂

The doors depicted above are next-door neighbours, so nobody has to remember numbers to find home. And of course my bicycle wanted to be included.

Thank you for looking!

Grey Doors on Thursday

Grey is the colour of elegance – or is it?

And parked cars are a real nuisance for this blogger, but horses are eyecatchers and never diminish a beautiful door.

They’re not only there on Thursdays, but for good. Still, these doors are part of Norman Frampton’s photo challenge Thursday Doors. Why not nip over, have a look at his blog and join in?

Thank you for visiting as usual. 🙂

Und natürlich ist auch das unvermeidliche Fahrrad wieder mit von der Partie – wie könnte es anders sein. Did you spot the ubiquitous bike?

Thursday Doors – Historic Water Gate

Thank you for visiting! This is part of Norm 2.0’s photo challenge Thursday Doors.

I’ve seen plenty of water towers and expected the Wismar Water Gate (built in 1450) to be similar. Wrong. It connects the waterfront of the old harbour to the historic city, apart from boasting several doors. I tried none of them, I found it was none of my business what was going on inside. The outside was stunning enough, a real beauty in the eyes of an ardent brick gothic lover (me). The pipe on the roof reminds me of a submarine. ‚And our friends are all aboard …‘

For contrast, just to end it on a more elegant note (i. e. a less rustic look), here’s a white example from the historic city.

weisses-schmuckstueckThis is your place for hearing aids, in case you’re looking for one. Or doesn’t one look for them? To be on the safe side, one might stop, look and listen at the door.

P. S.

As the pipe organ pattern attracted attention, there’s more to come next Thursday. You want a hint? Here you are.

Thursday Doors – Stop the Thief

I used to cling to the belief
That there are ways to stop a thief.
So just to make it complicated
I bought three U-locks
And then waited.
Alas, the thieves, they were no fools,
They brought along the needed tools.
But recently I stopped to stare,
I saw a bike that wasn‘t there!
For thieves one possibility is left -
Virtual theft.

What about the door(s)? Hidden behind the bicycle that isn’t there.
