Thursday Doors – Hanseatic City of Lübeck

Ever since I joined Norm Frampton’s photo challenge Thursday Doors, I have a feeling that it’s Thursday every other day. However, not to worry – the world is full of doors! 🙂

Thank you, Norm, and thank you everyone for visiting.

Today I picked five doors from the historic town of Luebeck that used to play a far more important role in the Middle Ages as the leading city of the Hanseatic League than Hamburg. We (a professional network) had a meeting there last weekend. As a literary translator I appreciate visiting places steeped in history and literature, but some of my colleagues were not amused remembering they were „forced“ to read Thomas Mann at school.

About doors…

I rubbed my eyes when I saw this stately door to the former poorhouse:
