In Quest of Blue Frogs – Sunday Trees

Last year I found a toad Bubo bufo [Erdkröte]  in a nearby nature reserve and read up on it afterwards. Obviously I had just missed the moor frogs Raba arvalis whose males may (or may not) turn blue for up to three days. So I decided to try my luck again a week ago, but all I found were trees in their usual colours. Better luck next time!

Part of Sunday Trees 283 hosted by Becca Givens – thank you, Becca and thank you all for visiting my blog.

I actually knew what to look for, because a user named Fice uploaded this shot to Wikimedia Commons. Thank you, Fice!

Blütenträume – Sunday Trees 282

An Ästen, die sich neigen
Und braun und dunkel schweigen,
Springt auf die weiße Blütenpracht
Und lacht und leuchtet durch die Nacht
Und bricht der Bäume Schweigen,
Dass sie sich rauschend neigen
Und rauschend ihre Blütenpracht
Dem dunklen Grase zeigen!

Colour Your World: Yellow Green Beyond the Fence

Part of Colour Your World: Yellow Green

Part of Sunday Trees 274

A cow must do, what a cow must do. And more often than not she has lots of co-workers/co-munchers/co-mooers. She likes to roam the green, green grass of home, but doesn’t mind that some of her colleagues prefer the lush pastures of rural Solothurn, a stone’s throw away – by a loooooong strong arm!  And I threw some trees into the bargain… And a glimpse of the Alps can’t do much harm either.

Inspiring view from Looren, the Swiss Centre for Literary Translation at Wernetshausen, a mountain village in the Zurich Highlands.

How now, brown cow?

Wenn Kühe ins Gras beißen, ist das nicht bedenklich.

Sunday Trees 272 – Resilience

Part of Sunday Trees 272

Also part of OWPC: resilient (although belated)

brown_leaves

How is this possible? When I open the door, I behold this miracle. The brown leaves are clinging to the tree as if they were glued on, although only recently a gale was raging here. This tree has plenty of mates in a row, all of them completely bare.

And the bicycle is still there – also quite unusual.
