Last year I found a toad Bubo bufo [Erdkröte] in a nearby nature reserve and read up on it afterwards. Obviously I had just missed the moor frogs Raba arvalis whose males may (or may not) turn blue for up to three days. So I decided to try my luck again a week ago, but all I found were trees in their usual colours. Better luck next time!

I actually knew what to look for, because a user named Fice uploaded this shot to Wikimedia Commons. Thank you, Fice!

Why is this a Gallican door? Because… Porta omnis divisa est in partes tres. And why can I only present this door in three parts, top, central and bottom part? Because of road works it wasn’t possible to take a shot from a reasonable distance. (Aside: Caesar, I really didn’t like your book on that war – I found it utterly boring and sided with your enemies! Too much bragging for my taste. You were a terrible narcissist and Brutus an honourable man.)
