Others have elaborated on smell and taste, whereas I have a penchant for the pungent displayed in the blackest of black English (i. e. British) humour. When I went to the cinema, I knew little more than the title, Eat the Rich. I wasn’t prepared for some of the crude, brutal kitchen scenes and had to avert my eyes from them. That served me right for not reading a review first, but then I like surprises. Apart from that, it was well worth watching – and listening to.
It’s one thing to read pungent satire like Jonathan Swift’s A Modest Proposal and just actually witnessing barbarous acts on a screen.
