Hubble, Bubble, Toil & Trouble…
I haven’t the slightest why this tiny toy vehicle used to be called a bubble in English – perhaps someone can enlighten me?
I understand it goes for both, the Messerschmitt Kabinenroller and the BMW Isetta, although the only feature they shared was their tinyness combined with an unusual entrance – the latter with two different approaches.
Anyway, I already used the toy photo for a Thursday Doors entry recently.
Admittedly, a giant like Dirk Nowitzki (2.13 m!) might have had problems with this peculiar contraption. It was very popular, though, partly because it was affordable, could be driven by bikers and also because it looked so cute. When watching the opening scene of Buster (based on the Great Train Robbery), it felt very nostalgic to spot one of these witnesses of the (well, my…) past.
This is my entry for Jennifer’s one word photo challenge OWPC. Thank you for stopping by! 🙂
